Clare Egan (11/19/1987) is a biathlete and cross-country skier originally from Cape Elizabeth, Maine. She started cross-country skiing in middle school and went on to become a Maine state champion and two-time member of the New England Junior National team. As an undergraduate student at Wellesley College, she ran cross-country and track and started the Wellesley Ski Team. After graduating in 2010, Clare spent a year at the University of New Hampshire, where she competed in Division I cross-country, outdoor track, and cross-country skiing, while pursuing a master’s degree in linguistics.

Clare joined the Craftsbury Green Racing Project in June of 2011 and notched eight top-6 finishes in the US Cross-Country Skiing SuperTour as well as two top-10’s in the American Birkebeiner 50k before turning her focus to biathlon during the 2013-2014 season. She made her Biathlon World Cup debut in January of 2015 and went on to represent the US Biathlon Team at the 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019 World Championships as well as the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. In March of 2019, Clare reached her first World Cup podium, taking bronze in the mass start event at the Word Cup final in Oslo, Norway. She ended the 2018-2019 season ranked 18th overall, having finished in the top-15 more than ten times.

Clare speaks five languages and was elected in 2018 to Chair the International Biathlon Union Athletes’ Committee until 2022. She lives in Lake Placid, New York.
